A story I want to tell you, dear ones,
Shin Yong-Jae’s first solo studio album [Dear]

After about a two-year hiatus, Shin Yong-Jae returns with his first solo studio album [Dear], 12 years after his debut.

[Dear], a word often used at the beginning of a letter, meaning ‘dear’ or ‘precious’, is an album filled with gratitude and untold stories for the precious fans who have waited during Shin Yong-Jae’s hiatus.

Shin Yong-Jae took on the entire production of his first solo studio album [Dear], participating in writing and composing the title tracks ‘First Line’, ‘Star’, and other tracks like ‘Secret Forest’, ‘La La Land’, showcasing his lyrical, delicate sensibility and his expanded and deepened musical growth.

The 10-track album [Dear] consists of songs like the contrasting title tracks ‘First Line’, ‘Star’, and ‘Day by Day’, ‘Permission’, ‘La La Land’, collaborated with Kim Won-joo, a former member of 4MEN, showcasing Shin Yong-Jae’s wide musical spectrum and diverse charm.

[Dear] gives the feeling of reading an omnibus book, hoping to become a precious memory for many listeners.

1. Intro
   A quiet, powerful contrabass opens the first chapter of [Dear], followed by a warm piano melody and grand orchestra announcing the beginning of [Dear].

2. First Line
   ‘Deer’ leaves a lasting impression with its dramatic orchestral arrangement and Shin Yong-Jae’s compelling, explosive voice, honestly expressing the desire to return to the most painful memories and start over as if flipping through a book of the past.

3. I Will Give
   ‘I Will Give’ sweetly tells a lover, ‘I will always be your rest’, combining a beautiful piano melody with Shin Yong-Jae’s melodious vocals, making listeners feel the onset of spring.

4. Star
   ‘Star’ compares a miraculously approaching beloved to a twinkling star, with honest and direct lyrics. The song creates a cinematic feeling with its lyrical and sweet guitar sound, enveloping orchestral music, and Shin Yong-Jae’s delicate, warm voice.

5. La La Land
   ‘La La Land’, reminiscent of a summer night cityscape, is a song with a rhythmic sound portraying happiness. However, the lyrics yearn for a lost lover, reminiscing about beautiful past moments, offering a surprising charm.

6. Permission
   ‘Permission’ talks about being unable to allow oneself to meet someone else after a breakup, with a lo-fi, heavy sound blending with Shin Yong-Jae’s calm, compelling voice, further tugging at the heartstrings.

7. Don’t Be Forgotten
   Starting with an emotional EP sound, ‘Don’t Be Forgotten’ is a retro pop track depicting the process of cherished memories with a departed loved one fading away and being forgotten.

8. Day by Day
   ‘Day by Day’, a song about the pain of not being able to forget a loved one, features the emotional voice of Kim Won-joo and the poignant voice of Shin Yong-Jae, offering a harmonious blend of both vocals.

9. Another Day Passes
   ‘Another Day Passes’ resonates with many, questioning the path one is on in life. The song features an attractive guitar line and vibrant instrumental sound, amplified by Shin Yong-Jae’s refreshing voice, evoking overwhelming emotions in the listener.

10. Secret Forest
    Everyone has secrets. ‘Secret Forest’ is a song comparing one’s fading heart to a forest, enriched by a grand string sound and Shin Yong-Jae’s resonating voice, adding depth to the song.
